2024 Season is Here!
FlyingConnie has been upgraded to a 35 foot H&H. She comes to us from Martha’s Vineyard and is 20% larger than our past boat. H&Hs’ are hand built and Downeast Maine designed. Downeast boats are super seaworthy, very stable and make the best fishing boats. The new FlyingConnie boost a fully enclosed head, a galley with seating and a TurboCharged 500HorsePower Yanmar engine. We are confident the new FlyingConnie will further increase fishing fun.
FLYING CONNIE ORIGIN
The name FlyingConnie originated from Capt. Mike’s Grandmother “Connie” who flew off the handle when his grandfather bought his first boat. The FlyingConnies have always brought good luck to Capt. Mike. All the boats in Capt. Mike’s life have worn the name FlyingConnie.
Strong Construction
Capt. Mike has been chasing after a boat like this since his move up to Clinton CT. She is a Crowley Beal a tad under 30 feet long, has a reel appealing New England look with strong seaworth construction.
Custom Built
The FlyingConnie is a custom Maine built downeast boat, powered by a turbocharged Yanmar diesel engine that is laid out perfectly for fishing.
Optimal Design
Combine beautiful looks, fishablitiy, seaworthiness, comfort and Capt. Mike believes he owns the perfect charter boat for CT fishing charters out to the offshore Atlantic Ocean.
Safety First
A wide range of navigation equipment is installed: 2 VHF radios, a Raymarine chartplotter, radar and autopilot, and Furuno’s newest digital fishfinder.
All Charterboats are licensed for 6 passengers, if you have a larger group we often arrange a second boat (or more boats) a really fun way to get larger groups out.
Yes there is, it’s called a head on a boat.
Yes, some of our best fishing occurs on poorer weather days. Rest assured we keep in-mind that fun & safety are our #1. Captain will call the night before a schedule trip to discuss weather if its forecasted.
Having raised 3 sons fishing aboard the Flying Connie, I feel we are very prepared for young anglers. Our 3-hour trip is geared for anglers as young as 4 years old. A half day trip where we mix in bottom fishing 6 years old is the right age to begin coming out. Offshore fishing is associated with long days and some rougher waters so 10 years old would be our set minimum age.
UPV SAFETY
Successful completion of a safety examination results in the issuing of a UPV Safety Decal (seen left). The decal, valid for two years and demonstates FlyingConnie’s commitment to safe operating practices. It MAY reduce the likelihood of Coast Guard at-sea boardings.
OUR Legacy
The FlyingConnie only sails with the best safety equipment, a Winslow life raft, Orion parachute flares, ACR 406 GPIRB and type 1 life jackets for everyone.
